SCOPE OF POSITION: The Grant Writer establishes, coordinates, and implements the County’s grant activities related to analysis of needs, identification of grant opportunities, determination of eligibility criteria, and drafting/submitting proposals to apply for financial grants from government departments, foundations, and other agencies.
The Grant Writer receives referrals and requests from County departments to research and prepare proposals for funding of projects and further, identifies funding sources, previous studies, analyzes needs/benefits, and reviews eligibility requirements to determine overall feasibility. Additionally, this position assesses funding priorities, and plans, organizes, and details the potential proposal scope (purpose, activities, timetables, and cost information of grants). The Grant Writer then establishes the design/description of the project/program purpose to include activities, costs, preparation, and finally, submission of proposal documents. In this community-based position, the Grant Writer provides technical assistance to local municipalities/non-profit organizations related to grant activities and further, collaborates with County departments/acts as a liaison between the County and state/federal officials for grant approval and applications.
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications, Creative Writing, Public/Business Administration, or related area of study, and;
- Three to five years of grant writing experience, or;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Certified Grant Writer professional credentials from the American Grant Writer's Association Inc., or the ability to obtain such within the first year of employment.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of grant preparation, proposal submission, and fundraising process, adhering to state and federal regulations.
- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and other various Windows or web-based applications.
Mandatory post offer physical and drug testing for new hire. Criminal records check required.
