Smithsonian Media is seeking a dynamic Digital Advertising Operations Coordinator with 1-2 years relevant digital ad operations experience to assist with the project management of digital ad campaigns for Smithsonian Enterprises Media Group. Campaigns include digital product offerings such as newsletters, email blasts, custom units, video, social media, banners, native content and more. The coordinator will be responsible for building and scheduling campaign launches, trafficking digital content, and asset management. The coordinator will also support the Marketing and Ad Sales teams by tracking campaigns and producing performance reports on a monthly and ad hoc basis. This position is on site 5 days a week in our New York office.

The Coordinator will touch the complete lifecycle of digital campaigns, while working closely with sales, marketing, and production teams to ensure internal benchmarks and client KPI’s are successfully achieved. The Coordinator is expected to provide superior customer service. This role will contribute to the daily operations and overall strategy of digital sales and digital ad operations, ensuring that the quality and responsiveness of service meets or exceeds expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Build and schedule digital ad campaigns for the Smithsonian Magazine website, partnering with our ad serving agencies and internal teams in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Traffic all digital assets from clients and advertising agencies for multiple launching and ongoing campaigns. QA assets for functionality and compliance with technical specifications and content restrictions and distribute when approved to Digital, Marketing and Production teams. (This includes ensuring accurate specs, formats and links)
  • Coordinate approvals for custom content such as native content, custom units, sponsored newsletters, custom emails, and more prior to launch
  • Assist with building custom and non-custom units in Adventive and coordinate with internal teams and clients for approvals to launch campaigns and associated ad units
  • Create client facing screenshot decks at campaign launch and wrap decks at campaign end
  • Lead post-sales interactions with marketing and sales teams and clients to ensure campaign fulfillment
  • Create monthly and ad hoc digital performance reports from multiple data sources (GAM, GA4, Ad Manager, Salesforce etc.)
  • Play a role in implementing best practices and processes to ensure most efficient operational flow
  • Monitor trends in performance, competitor insights and help identify areas of improvement and opportunity

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and/or at least 3 years of related experience training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 1-2 years of relevant digital ad operations experience (with a publishing company a plus) and working knowledge of Google Ad Manager (GAM), Google Tag Manager (GTM), Google Campaign Manager, Google Analytics 4, Adventive, Salesforce and other similar systems
  • Capable of high-level and some detailed data analysis using Microsoft Excel (knowledge of Pivot Tables and basic to mid-level formulas a strong plus), Google Analytics 4 and more
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills including a positive attitude and ability to interact with a diverse audience including peers, management, clients, vendors, and others across numerous email strings and Microsoft Teams channels simultaneously
  • Design and copy experience a plus
  • Able to multitask, perform efficiently and accurately under tight deadlines
  • Possess strong critical thinking, quantitative analysis abilities, with close attention to detail
  • Display a dependable, strong work ethic with the ability to manage projects autonomously
  • Pro-active, quick learner, able to adapt and operate effectively in a fast-paced, highly demanding, constantly evolving environment
  • Able to work independently and with a team as needed

Salary: Up to $70,000, commensurate with experience.
