Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

  • Responsible for the controllership activities for licensed and acquired TV Networks programming and production costs.
  • Oversee that all transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed, and supported in accordance with company policies, generally accepted accounting principles, and SOX controls.
  • Key member of the TV Networks controllership team supporting the finance organization on reporting and controls issues.
  • Participate in monthly/quarterly closing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial information. Perform financial statement reviews for relevant accounts (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flows), and oversee preparation and review of schedules supporting external disclosures.
  • Review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, ensuring all necessary adjustments and true-ups are reflected accurately and timely.
  • Responsible for key controllership processes related to owned and acquired content accounting, including amortization curves and impairment analysis.
  • Assess control environment through review of control activities; identify and focus on improvement opportunities in high-risk areas.
  • Ensure operational and design effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting and support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.
  • Participate in external and internal audits for TV Networks content.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation and delivery of management reports.
  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and monitor results.
  • Collaborate with controllership team and IT on reporting system enhancements (e.g., amortization systems).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • CPA required.
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices and financial standards.

Additional Requirements

  • Hybrid: This position is hybrid, generally contributing from the office at least three days per week, subject to change based on business needs.
  • This position is eligible for company-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and other perks. Salary range: $100,000–$135,000 (bonus eligible).
