Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY, and Golf Channel, along with digital assets like Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

  1. Oversee the controllership activities for TV Networks revenues and non-programming expenses.
  2. Ensure all transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed, and supported according to company policies, GAAP, and SOX controls.
  3. Partner with the TV Networks finance organization as a trusted advisor on reporting and controls, and assist with financial and operational policy formulation.
  4. Participate in monthly/quarterly closing processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial information. Lead financial statement reviews and oversee preparation of schedules for external disclosure.
  5. Review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, ensuring timely and accurate adjustments and true-ups.
  6. Manage key controllership processes related to linear distribution, advertising, and other revenue streams, collaborating with accounting teams to assess impacts of new transactions.
  7. Assess control environment, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure internal controls over financial reporting are maintained and SOX compliant.
  8. Manage external and internal audits for revenue and expenses.
  9. Ensure timely preparation and delivery of management reports.
  10. Mentor and develop staff, assign responsibilities, set objectives, and evaluate results.
  11. Collaborate on reporting system enhancements with controllership and IT teams.

The Person

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 8+ years relevant experience.
  • CPA required.
  • Knowledge of accounting practices and standards.

Additional Requirements

  • Hybrid work model, typically three days in-office per week.
  • Eligible for company benefits including insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and discounts. Salary range: $150,000-$185,000 plus bonus and incentives.
