Position Summary

As Production Accountant, you will work closely with our production, legal, and finance teams to manage all accounting operations related to physical production — from budgeting and cost tracking to payroll and tax incentive reporting. • Set up cost tracking systems for each project (e.g., Movie Magic, SmartAccounting)

  • Manage payroll processing for cast, crew, and union reporting (SAG-AFTRA, IATSE, DGA)

  • Reconcile petty cash, purchase orders, invoices, and credit cards

  • Issue weekly cost reports and cash flow projections to producers and executives

  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely and accurate financial inputs

  • Manage production bank accounts and monitor disbursements

  • Prepare wrap binders and final cost reports for tax credit audits and financiers

  • Work with auditors, completion bond reps, and financiers as needed

Qualifications

  • 3–7 years of experience in film/TV accounting or production finance

  • Deep knowledge of industry-standard software: Movie Magic Budgeting, PSL, SmartAccounting, Greenslate, or similar

  • Familiarity with tax incentive tracking and audit prep

  • Strong understanding of union rules, fringes, and payroll practices

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and reporting skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with independent film or studio projects at various budget levels

  • Experience handling international production accounting and currencies

  • CPA or degree in accounting/finance a plus, but not required if experienced
