Octane Multimedia is a prolific film and television studio specializing in high-quality genre and commercial storytelling across global markets. With a robust slate of feature films and series in production and post, we are seeking an experienced Production Accountant to oversee and manage production finances across multiple projects.
Position Summary
As Production Accountant, you will work closely with our production, legal, and finance teams to manage all accounting operations related to physical production — from budgeting and cost tracking to payroll and tax incentive reporting. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, cash flow management, and union compliance across our film and TV slate.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage production accounting on multiple concurrent projects (pre-production through post)
Set up cost tracking systems for each project (e.g., Movie Magic, SmartAccounting)
Manage payroll processing for cast, crew, and union reporting (SAG-AFTRA, IATSE, DGA)
Reconcile petty cash, purchase orders, invoices, and credit cards
Issue weekly cost reports and cash flow projections to producers and executives
Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely and accurate financial inputs
Manage production bank accounts and monitor disbursements
Prepare wrap binders and final cost reports for tax credit audits and financiers
Work with auditors, completion bond reps, and financiers as needed
Qualifications
3–7 years of experience in film/TV accounting or production finance
Deep knowledge of industry-standard software: Movie Magic Budgeting, PSL, SmartAccounting, Greenslate, or similar
Familiarity with tax incentive tracking and audit prep
Strong understanding of union rules, fringes, and payroll practices
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and reporting skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with independent film or studio projects at various budget levels
Experience handling international production accounting and currencies
CPA or degree in accounting/finance a plus, but not required if experienced
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $50,000 – $75,000 DOE
