Job Summary:
Assists Buyer and Planner Distributor in various merchandising functions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in assortment planning, execution, advertising coordination, financial planning, merchandise allocation, and replenishment for assigned departments.
- Support evaluation and development of stock assortments and sourcing for regional and corporate programs.
- Negotiate with vendors for support such as advertising, freight allowances, coupons, and demonstrations.
- Manage advertising info sheets and track order status to ensure timely receipt of advertised items.
- Assist in assuming buying responsibilities for specific merchandise classifications as directed.
- Develop inventory projections, planning, and replenishment strategies for merchandise classifications when assigned.
- Communicate merchandising programs effectively across stores and departments.
- Handle new item vendor setup and maintain accurate vendor data, including pricing.
- Collaborate on developing and maintaining plan-o-grams.
Place and track orders from placement to receipt, maintaining open-to-buy as directed.
- Review and monitor sales, profits, and inventories to optimize performance.
- Analyze vendor performance and prepare system reports for review.
- Conduct store visits to evaluate merchandising and provide improvement recommendations.
- Participate in advertising, vendor meetings, and merchandise clinics.
- Supervise administrative support staff and delegate tasks appropriately.
- Stay informed of industry trends through vendor meetings, market trips, trade publications, and store visits.
- Perform other duties as assigned, working under supervision and within policies.
- File Financial Disclosure Report OGE Form 450 as required.
Minimum of 4 years of experience, including:
General Experience:
3 years in administrative, merchandising, or responsible work with knowledge of procurement practices and mature judgment.
OR Substitution of Education for Experience:
1 year of education above high school level may substitute for 9 months of experience, up to a bachelor's degree for 3 years of experience.
Specialized Experience:
1 year in procurement practices, developing and maintaining open-to-buy, sourcing, pricing, markdowns, stock rotation, sales promotions, or similar work demonstrating relevant knowledge and skills.
