Position Summary
Obermeyer is seeking a Sr Technical Designer/Fit Specialist with a background of Outerwear and performance Apparel.This position manages the day-to-day deliverables related to the construction and fit consistency of our product. This position will work directly with internal functions:The ideal candidate must be skilled in working cross-functionally with internal and external teams, Creative Director, Product Line Managers, Sourcing, contract designers, and factories. Exceptional understanding of garment construction, fit, and sourcing, along with the ability to achieve development timelines. Ability to communicate and make critical decisions while working independently and collaboratively while excelling in a fast-paced creative environment will be key to success.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with design team to execute styles from initial concept to production.
- Collaborate with design and production teams to source and develop garment trims.
- Assist in managing fit sessions. Maintaining grade rules, and fit consistency across all products.
- Maintain and communicate accurate proto specification packages, including revising illustrations and technical sketches, fabric and trims, construction details, patterns, bill of materials, fit comments and measurement charts.
- Track all fit samples associated with the product to ensure their movement through the product development process in coordination with the development calendar.
- Work with design and production teams to achieve desired costing and hit stated price point and margin goals while achieving design goals.
- Communicate effectively with factories as their primary contact on the development and confirmation of all styles.
- Request, tracking of samples and sample status.
- Provide information to Customer Service to address customers’ product questions.
- Review QC issues with teams and factories to evaluate and clarify issues and suggest improvements.
- Manages and mentors the technical design department
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Expert in apparel pattern making and fit for Technical Outerwear and Apparel
- Knowledge of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems
- Knowledge of garment manufacturing processes.
- 10+ years of experience in a broad range of technical outerwear garments preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong follow-through. Must be able to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong computer skills and the ability to obtain information from various systems.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Adobe Illustrator.
- Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form with a diverse audience.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines.
- Actively manages and mentors direct reports and their career growth.
- Proven ability to lead, grow, and influence a team in-house or remotely.
