Summary: The Report Writer is responsible for compiling inspection documentation from the workshop and repair recommendations from engineering into a detailed report explaining work performed. The Report Writer will assist engineering and operations in creating procedures which are clearly constructed with sufficient detail and proper grammar. Additionally, responsibilities include collaborating with customers on documentation content to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and customer specific requests.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Receive WI, procedures, JSAs, and other technical documents from Operations, Engineering, and Quality for review and editing
- Edit shop inspection documents to clearly display data
- Ensure documentation is clear, concise, and formatted consistently before publication
- Incorporate visual elements such as diagrams, process flowcharts, and images to enhance clarity and usability
- Validate content accuracy by working with subject matter experts in Operations, Engineering, and Quality
- Review documentation for compliance with project specific ITPs
- Facilitate effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding of documentation provided
- Perform additional tasks as required to support project objectives and team needs.
- Associate’s Degree from a college or university, mechanical aptitude is preferred but not required; or minimum five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3+ years in a technical writing role within manufacturing, safety, or quality control
- Communication & Detail Orientation: Ability to translate complex manufacturing processes into clear, user-friendly documents for employees at all skill levels
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Safety, Quality, and Operations) to develop and validate documentation
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards related to manufacturing documentation
- Proven experience in a rotating equipment or manufacturing environment desired
- Proven ability to handle complicated tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), Adobe, AI tools and document management systems
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization, both internally and externally, as well as independently and willingness to travel worldwide on occasion
