Responsibilities
Responsible for supervising an Application Team within the Graduate School and working with different teams (Admissions, Recruitment, and Operations) inside the Graduate School to design, develop, and deploy the graduate admissions and recruitment system (Slate). This position works to convert functional requirements of the Graduate School into technical processes inside the Graduate Application system, which includes working with the teams to develop applications, mailings, rules, portals, queries, and other technical development elements inside the application system. Additionally, this position sends application data to our Student Information System - Campus Solutions (PeopleSoft). This position also helps develop reports and queries for reporting and is the liaison with the Office of Institutional Research for reporting needs. Specifically, the job responsibilities of the Application Developer/Designer are:
(50%) Responsible for leading the technical development for the Graduate School's Slate instance including designing, reviewing, analyzing, and modifying systems to support the University's graduate and graduate professional development admissions and recruitment activities.
(20%) Gathers requirements from users, creates specifications, and develops and writes code and Slate configuration to support the graduate recruitment and application system.
(10%) Encodes, tests, debugs, and installs functionality into Slate.
(5%) Develops standards and guidelines, monitors traffic, and analyzes usage.
(5%) Identifies current and future needs to ensure Slate supports the mission of the Graduate School.
(10%) May be responsible for the design, organization, functionality, accessibility, navigation, and overall usability of a unit's website in relation to graduate recruitment and admissions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in information technology or a related degree and two years (24 months) of applicable experience. Or, in the alternative, a Master's degree in information technology or a related degree and no experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
