Wevise is a US-based nonprofit founded in 2022. Our mission is to make careers in the technology industry more attainable through equitable access to mentorship, education, and career opportunities. We’re a team of committed volunteers from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about leveling the playing field in tech (and beyond).

Our first program, which launched in June 2023, is a mentorship platform for those looking for personal or professional guidance in the technology industry, with a focus on those from disadvantaged communities or with additional barriers. Our second, launching in 2025, is a city-focused partnership initiative supporting diverse adults in Chicago to find and succeed in their first tech position.

In this volunteer role, you’ll be responsible for creating and leading a volunteer marketing team, building and implementing a marketing strategy (with the support of your team), and ensuring that Wevise meets its marketing objectives. Because Wevise is a startup, although the end goal of the position is to be leading a team, at the beginning there will be both strategic and hands-on responsibilities until the team is built and onboarded.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with Wevise's overall goals and objectives
• Build and lead the marketing team, including setting clear goals and expectations, providing regular feedback and support, and creating a positive and collaborative work culture
• Develop and implement a brand strategy and messaging across all channels
• Implement marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital marketing, social media, and public relations
• Ensure the company's website and digital presence are optimized for search engines and user experience
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with external partners to execute marketing initiatives effectively

Requirements

• 5+ years marketing director or higher experience
• Positive attitude with the ability to establish and grow relationships
• Knowledge/understanding of nonprofit marketing strongly preferred
• Experience working in/with startups: the ability to create an initial structure and strategy
• Experience in creating and implementing marketing strategy
• Passionate about the mission of Wevise
• Strong time and team management skills
• Minimum commitment: 10 hours per week
