Position Summary
The Full-Time Library Assistant plays a vital role in delivering high-quality library services, ensuring value-added experiences for all customers.
Adult Department:
The Library Assistant Staff in Adult Services support community members of all ages and life stages, from young adults and those building careers to older adults and seniors. The team provides assistance with digital literacy in the computer lab, guidance on technology and online resources, and support at a busy service desk. They also help connect patrons with study rooms, programs, and collections while ensuring excellent customer service for a wide range of needs. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as the role involves frequent shifts between processing materials, assisting at Childrens occasionally and circulation service points, and engaging with customers of all ages.

Schedule:
Full Time Benefit Eligible, 40 hours per week Mondays 8 am to 5 pm Tuesdays 8 am 5 pm Wednesday 8 am to 5 pm Thursdays 11 am 8 pm Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday (every 3-week rotation weekend schedule) 8:00am 5:00pm Summer (alternate Friday and Saturday rotation)
Essential Functions:
- Promote the library's collection and services
- Perform circulation activities
- Provide service desk coverage
- Provide materials to appropriate bins for transfer
- Provide research assistance to customers
- Utilize integrated library systems software
- Assisting customers at several service points (primarily Children's floor)
- Training and assisting customers on various library policies, procedures, and processes
- Collaborating with Librarians to deliver programming and outreach services
- Assisting with volunteer management
- Perform shelving and weeding duties
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of one year of customer service experience including library or retail. Education: High School diploma or equivalent Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted? Yes
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of integrated library systems software (IE: Polaris) Bilingual

Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite
Work Environment:
