GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK
Under the supervision of the Principal, the Instructional Technology Media Assistant provides on-site, job-embedded professional development for teachers to support the improvement of student learning through the use of technology tools and practices. The Instructional Technology Media Assistant assists the Library-Media Specialist with daily media center operations.

The Instructional Technology Media Assistant assists the Library-Media Specialist with daily media center operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide direct support to the classroom teacher for the utilization of technology tools and resources to support instruction in the classroom
- Develop a rich media center of support materials and technology-enhanced resources for grade levels and subject areas for teachers
- Monitor student behavior in the media center; answer questions and provide information concerning media center resources; assist students in locating and accessing materials and topics for research, reference, and assignments
- Monitor media center files; type correspondence and forms
- Monitor work of student media center assistants and/or volunteers; train assistants in basic media center procedures; review work
- Tutor students in computer use procedures; may oversee use of photocopying equipment
- Process new books and materials; insert pockets and cards; may stamp ownership markings; type replacement cards as needed; repair books; prepare books and materials for discard
- Type orders for books, magazines, and other media center materials; receive and verify orders; maintain records; keep staff and students informed of new resources
- Maintain audio-visual materials; receive and distribute films and tapes; follow up to ensure timely return as needed; troubleshoot problems with audio-visual equipment; replace bulbs; call for service as needed; check out audio-visual equipment
- Check books and other media center materials in and out; shelve materials; prepare overdue notices and correspondence; collect fees and write receipts for overdue payments; assist in taking periodic inventory of books and materials; maintain inventory records; enter media center material information on computer
- Assist Library-Media specialist in maintaining physical appearance of media center; pick up litter and straighten chairs; set up displays; create bulletin boards
- Organize activities for special media center projects, such as used book drives
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Must have a strong foundation the integration of technology into the classroom
- Must be able to communicate effectively with adult and student learners
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to organize and set priorities
- Ability to learn the operation of audio-visual equipment
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff
- Must hold Associate Degree in Technology or related field
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience with technology
