About The Role
The IU Health Medical Library is hiring a Manager for Library Services to develop and lead its evolving role in supporting research, evidence-based practice, and client needs. The position involves conducting literature searches, managing digital resources, and assisting with reference and technology support. The role collaborates with clinicians and leadership to enhance services, improve patient outcomes, and support education. Responsibilities include planning, overseeing operations, providing professional librarian services across IU Health facilities and affiliates, managing collections and subscriptions, and supervising technical support and automated systems.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
- Required to meet qualification requirements established by the American Library Association (ALA) and/or Medical Library Association (MLA).
- Requires a working knowledge of National Library of Medicine (NLM), Nursing, Allied Health and other databases and Library systems.
- Requires knowledge in business applications and of vendors and pricing options.
- Requires specific knowledge of the different processes and on-line ordering systems required for both books and serials.
- Requires 5-7 years of relevant experience.
- Requires experience in overseeing contract negotiations with vendors and with ad-hocqueries for data base systems; experience working in a multi-hospital system preferred.
