We are seeking a board-certified music therapist to provide off-site services to start, with potential to expand a personalized schedule that includes a variety of locations, including our center. Our service area is primarily within central Massachusetts.
Current needs are centered on providing music therapy for elementary-aged IEP services, elderly/memory care, and adaptive music lessons in piano, guitar, and voice. We are willing to consider highly qualified music therapy students and recent graduates who do not yet have their MT-BC to teach adaptive lessons.
REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in music therapy or equivalent
- Current MT-BC (music therapist, board certified) or equivalent
- Adaptive/therapeutic lesson teacher only: May be a music therapy student in internship or newly graduated and not yet obtained board certification
- Reliable vehicle with a valid registration, driver’s license, and car insurance
- Strong professional skills
- Supportive, compassionate, creative, and genuine
- LGBTQIA+ Supportive
PREFERRED
- Master’s level degree in music therapy
- Experience with Individualized Education Plans (IEP) services
- Experience with elderly/dementia/nursing home populations and settings
- Willing to teach adaptive/therapeutic music lessons in addition to providing music therapy
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a client caseload of varying ages, diagnoses, and settings
- Manage scheduling to consistently arrive on time and provide full-length session slots
- Conduct assessments to determine clients’ needs and develop tailored music therapy interventions
- Plan and implement sessions tailored to each client, supporting them in both their identified goals and immediate emerging needs; improvising and adapting sessions as needed in this process.
- Implement therapeutic sessions that may include singing, songwriting, playing instruments, and movement to music
- Maintain accurate documentation in a timely manner
- Develop and work towards long- and short-term goals and objectives
- Attend regular supervision and team meetings
- Attend student recitals up to twice/year when your client/student is participating (paid)
- Support, guide, teach, and lead in a way that is positive and encouraging to the client/student
- Maintain a professional demeanor and relationship with all partner organizations and persons with which you interact while providing services

SCHEDULE
- Position begins immediately
- Position begins part time with high potential to grow quickly to desired number of hours, up to a full-time salary position with additional benefits
- Work schedule is flexible within assigned clients’ availability and therapist’s preference
- Documentation to be completed by end of day
- Closed on Saturdays
