Enterprise Marketing and Communications isseeking to hire a Multimedia Designer.
As VCU's integrated communications and marketing office, theDivision of Enterprise Marketing and Communications thrives on collaborationand innovation. The Multimedia Designer creates innovative andstrategy-driven assets to be applied to print, digital and social mediachannels for marketing initiatives and campaigns. Additionally, they willprovide illustration and animation components for videos and presentations.This hands-on role requires a thoughtful yet technically-minded creative thatcan contribute to the storytelling process from multiple angles. The designeris an experienced and natural collaborator that enhances big brand conceptswhile meeting clear marketing and communication objectives. This position reportsto and supports the assistant creative director (ACD).
Responsibilitiesinclude:
Supporting the Assistant Creative Directors with the development of creative concepts and strategies that are insightful and relevant.
Creating media for a wide range of channels that honor and reinforce the brand standards.
Developing presentations and pitch decks that can speak to both partner and executive audiences.
Rendering innovative video roughs and other motion elements that bring new life to the brand and function across multiple channels.
Providing recommendations for motion, sound, and interactivity that will flesh out respective areas of the brand identity standards.
Collaborating with other teams in the division to develop high quality enterprise marketing assets.
Ensuring resources are allocated according to project needs.
Adhering to established timelines and mandatory deliverables of multiple projects.
Participating in creative development.
Incorporating trends, strategies and technologies both in higher ed and marketing/advertising.
Qualifications
Minimum Hiring Standards:
Bachelor's degree in communications or design or equivalent experience plus experience in an advertising agency or in-house marketing department.
Five years of demonstrated experience in producing creative across traditional and non-traditional channels and markets.
Excellent conceptual skills.
Demonstrate exceptional design and motion skills.
Understanding of creative strategy.
Ability to work within and apply established brand architecture and standards.
Ability to work independently and in a team setting with other writers, editors, designers, photographers and videographers, to develop and execute creative concepts.
Ability to communicate and present inspired ideas accurately and clearly.
Ability to balance multiple priorities and consistently deliver under tight deadlines.
Organizational and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate understanding of VCU's audiences.
Able to successfully handle multiple tasks, shift focus and prioritize to meet a variety of deadlines.
Interpret creative direction and technical information and turn them into persuasive concepts.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Hiring Standards:
Familiarity with the higher education and health categories.
An impeccable portfolio or reel with examples of big ideas and execution across a variety of platforms.
Examples of concepts that produced measurable results or meaningful internal changes.
