Work Hours Approximately 10 hours per week.
Position Summary Information
Objective
To perform daily maintenance and operating functions in an academic library.
Be willing to shelve books the entire time you are scheduled to work and any other duties assigned.
Clean tables and computers according to current protocol.
Read shelves (checking to see that books are in correct Dewey Decimal order and are arranged neatly on the shelves).
Floor duty when scheduled (shelving or relocating library material); take book trucks to the to-be-shelved areas; take count of library patrons hourly; and assist students with machines and finding material.
Search lists of items to fill material requests.
Shift ranges of books when instructed to do so.
Assist with inventory of library material.
Some desk duty, checking in and out of materials.
Deliver and pick up items around campus as necessary.
Make copies and prepare customized packets when assigned.
* Assist with event set-up and clean-up.
*Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be able to work one evening per week until 9:30 pm and one a weekend shift per month.
Preferred Experience and Training
Library experience preferred.
Required Degree, License or Certifications
Physical Requirements
Be able to shelve books on the highest bookshelves. Be able to stand on stool, pick up and carry weights up to 20 pounds, etc.
