Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED and one-year experience in utility maintenance; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Knowledge of wastewater systems operation and CCTV equipment maintenance and operation.
- Working skill in keeping accurate records.
- Lifting of up to 50 pounds required.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Current valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required. The record must not reflect six or more demerit points within the past 24 months or one major violation of six demerit points within the past 36 months, according to the Virginia DMV point system.
- Out-of-state driving records must be obtained and presented at the time of interview, reflecting at least three years of history and dated within 30 days of the interview.
- This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
- Pre-employment requirements include drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification.
Job Duties:
- Inspect sewer lines with a closed-circuit camera.
- Walk sewer easements to ensure manhole covers are secure and undamaged.
- Install and retrieve data from flow tote computers in manholes.
- Repair leaks in manholes.
- Drive vehicles such as CCTV inspection trucks.
- Make repairs to equipment.
- Perform other work as required.

- Overtime may be required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- This position is part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) with opportunities for career progression and salary incentives, depending on performance, qualifications, and funding.
- The position is open until filled, with the first review beginning September 1, 2025.
- Work hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
