Position Overview/Responsibilities for the UX Designer:
- Lead user research initiatives and journey mapping to gain insights into user interactions and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Proven UX Design Experience: Extensive portfolio demonstrating expertise in user research, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping (low and high-fidelity), and usability testing.
- Develop wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies in accordance with accessibility guidelines and branding standards.
- Collaborate with Code for America and cross-functional teams to apply industry best practices in UI/UX design.
- Engage in discovery workshops, feedback sessions, and sprint planning to align design decisions with business objectives.
- Employ tools like Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, and Hotjar; implement usability testing, responsive design, and SEO strategies.
- Design user interfaces for AI/ML systems, focusing on explainable AI (XAI) and human-AI interaction principles.
- Understand and design for complex systems with business logic and regulatory requirements, especially in government, healthcare, or finance domains.
- Present complex data and AI insights in clear visual formats.
- Deeply understand user needs and advocate for user-centered design principles.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ensure inclusive design by adhering to WCAG and other accessibility standards.
- Bonus: Experience with eligibility determination systems or similar rule-based, data-intensive applications.
Required Skills for the UX Designer:
- 11+ years’ experience designing enterprise system interfaces, including wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, and Sketch.
- 11+ years’ experience collaborating with technical and non-technical teams, translating business needs into intuitive designs that meet accessibility and branding standards.
- 10+ years’ experience creating wireframes and prototypes supporting agile development cycles, including sketch-to-visual fidelity transitions.
