Job title : Systems Analyst 3 / UI/UX Designer

Location: Austin, TX

Duration : 10+ Months Contract

The roleof UI/UX designers is central to improving accessibility, usability, andresponsiveness of the HHSC eligibility systems.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leaduser research initiatives and journey mapping to gain deep insights into userinteractions and identify opportunities for optimization.

Proven UX Design Experience: Extensive portfolio demonstrating expertise inuser research, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping (low andhigh-fidelity), and usability testing.

• Developwireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies in accordance with establishedaccessibility guidelines and branding standards.

• Collaboratewith Code for America and cross-functional teams to apply industry bestpractices in UI/UX design.

• Engagein discovery workshops, feedback sessions, and sprint planning to ensure thatdesign decisions are aligned with business objectives.

• Employa comprehensive suite of tools—including Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, andHotjar—and implement usability testing, responsive design, and SEO optimizationstrategies.

• Experiencewith AI/ML Interfaces: Demonstrated experience designing user interfaces forsystems that incorporate Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning, with afocus on explainable AI (XAI) and human-AI interaction principles.

• ComplexSystem Design: Ability to understand and design for complex business logic andregulatory requirements, particularly in domains like government services,healthcare, or finance.

• DataVisualization: Skill in presenting complex data and AI insights in a clear,concise, and understandable visual format.

• Empathyand User Advocacy: Deep commitment to understanding user needs and advocatingfor user-centered design principles.

• Collaboration& Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills toeffectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present designsolutions to stakeholders.

• Understandingof Accessibility Standards: Knowledge of WCAG and other accessibilityguidelines to ensure inclusive design.

Bonus : Experience with eligibility determinationsystems or similar rule-based, data-intensive applications.

Must haveSkills:

• 11 years of Hands-on experience designing userinterfaces and experiences for enterprise systems, including wireframes,prototypes, and visual hierarchies using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, andSketch.

• 11 years of demonstrated ability to collaboratewith technical and non-technical teams, translating business needs intointuitive design solutions that align with accessibility and brandingstandards.

• Required 10 years of experience applying UXdesign principles such as hierarchy, contrast, and alignment to createresponsive and accessible web and mobile interfaces.

• 10 years of experience creating wireframes andprototypes that support agile development cycles, including sketch-to-visualfidelity transitions.

• 5 years of experience designing graphicaldiagrams and visual narratives to communicate timelines, workflows, and systemarchitecture.

• 3 years of demonstrated ability to facilitatedesign workshops and feedback sessions with stakeholders, ensuring alignmentwith business goals and user needs.

• Bachelor's degree in graphic design,Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or related field. Equivalentexperience may be substituted.

• 3 years of Strong multitasking skills with theability to manage multiple design streams across concurrent work efforts.
