Job Overview

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking two Systems Analyst 3 resources specializing in UI/UX design to enhance accessibility, usability, and responsiveness of eligibility systems. The selected candidates will lead research, design, and prototyping initiatives to ensure HHSC's applications are intuitive, compliant with accessibility standards, and aligned with business goals.

This role requires expertise in user-centered design, enterprise application interfaces, and collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Conduct user research initiatives and journey mapping to gain insights into user interactions.
• Design wireframes, prototypes, and visual hierarchies aligned with accessibility guidelines and branding standards.
• Apply UX design principles (hierarchy, contrast, alignment) to create responsive web and mobile interfaces.
• Collaborate with Code for America and cross-functional teams on best practices in UI/UX design.
• Facilitate discovery workshops, sprint planning, and stakeholder feedback sessions.
• Develop and test designs using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Hotjar, and implement usability testing.
• Incorporate AI/ML interface considerations, focusing on explainable AI (XAI) and human-AI interaction.
• Present complex data and AI insights through clear, concise data visualization.
• Advocate for user-centered design and ensure compliance with WCAG and accessibility standards.

Candidate Skills and Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• 11+ years of hands-on experience designing user interfaces and experiences for enterprise systems using tools like Figma, Adobe XD, and Sketch.
• 11+ years of proven collaboration with technical and non-technical teams to translate business needs into intuitive design solutions.
• 10+ years of experience applying UX principles (hierarchy, contrast, alignment) to responsive and accessible interfaces.
• 10+ years of experience creating wireframes and prototypes for agile development cycles.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience designing diagrams and visual narratives for workflows, timelines, and system architecture.
• 3+ years of experience facilitating workshops and feedback sessions with stakeholders.
• 3+ years of experience with Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, HCI, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent).
• 3+ years of strong multitasking skills to manage multiple design streams concurrently.
