General Summary

This role will focus on creating detailed proposals and reports by researching, developing, writing, preparing, and submitting successful grant proposals to corporate and foundation funders. This role will support the growth of Marillac St. Vincents Institutional funder portfolio with partners who align with the organizations mission and five-year strategic plan. This role will report to the Director of Development.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prospect research, vet, and cultivate grant opportunities for current funders and prospective funders to support pressing and long-term program goals with a focus on expanding our portfolio of Foundation and Corporate partners.
  • Current funders: Prepare and submit grant applications and timely reports, meeting deadlines; steward relationships through meaningful engagements.
  • Prospects: Review potential funding opportunities to identify and develop proposals and applications for new funding opportunities that align with the mission and vision of Marillac St. Vincent
  • Conduct revisions to MSV grant language - update narrative, data, impact/success stories, trends - to ensure it reflects the most current organizational and program descriptions and matches funding priorities.
  • Collaborate and engage program teams to formulate compelling program narratives and impact both quantitatively and qualitatively, and gain a thorough understanding of MSV's history, programs, and services.
  • Track sector for giving trends, this can include attending pre-proposal workshops/webinars and sharing information to support decisions.
  • Develop, maintain, and track pertinent outreach - including cultivations, solicitations, and other activities - in Raiser's Edge database.
  • Provide ongoing timely status reports that outline proposal and reporting due dates for the upcoming 3 months, and weekly update on status of current projects.

Qualifications

  • Strong writing skills
  • Minimum of three years in fundraising and grant writing
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
  • Be comfortable creating budgets and organizational attachments.
  • Raiser's Edge grants management experience or other database experience to manage grants calendar, reporting, and submission deadlines.
  • Capital campaign and government funding experience is a plus.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Fine hand manipulation (keyboarding).
