General Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Work with district leadership to identify communication strategies and determine appropriate means to convey messages effectively and to promote a positive district image
- Coordinate clear, consistent, and reliable communication with all stakeholders and community members utilizing various communication methods including print, videos, photos, website, and social media
- Manages all aspects of branding for LSSD to ensure continuity across the district
- Develop, design, implement and maintain the District website content on a regular basis
- Assist with the design of all school websites and support school based technology personnel as needed
- Coordinate District plans for all website communication
- Take responsibility for the content, quality, design and style of district communications, as well as district and school websites
- Enforce guidelines, standards, board policies, and state laws as they pertain to all websites within the school district
- Optimize web architecture for navigability (browser and mobile platforms); track and analyze web traffic statistics for periodic reporting and review of content effectiveness; work toward accessibility of all websites
- Maintain, convert and optimize published documents for online use
- Assist with coordination and facilitation of special events, meetings, and activities to ensure they are well planned and operate smoothly
- Serve as liaison between school district and media sources for the purpose of ensuring accurate information is disseminated
- Responsible for communication with school administration and/or staff to collect information to be shared through various media outlets
- Manage the district and schools overall social media presence, offering direction and support to schools as needed
- Develop communication plans as assigned for district programs and initiatives
- Promote and market internal and external school events (i.e. family engagement events, fundraisers, athletic events, etc.)
- Compile, edit, and publish district communications to share with stakeholders
- Works with appropriate staff in crisis situations that could result in media coverage
- Work with leadership to prepare and disseminate district compliance training and have thorough knowledge of software system used to conduct training
- Work collaboratively with other departments and department heads to facilitate support to schools/work locations
- Serve as district communications liaison and provide oversight to departments/schools to ensure consistent, accurate, thorough information is disseminated appropriately
- Serve as liaison to the Board of Education (board meeting notifications to staff and media/public, prepare agenda material, attend meetings, take minutes, coordinate board member training, etc.)
- Support leadership with district recognition program to celebrate staff milestones
- Attend and conduct requested trainings/meetings
- May teach communication/website content to students as requested
- Work on special projects as needed/directed
- Ensure that the use of the district's resources (time, money, people) are used in the most strategic and effective way possible
- Project a positive image of the LSSD at all times and support district goals
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of district information
- Support the effective delivery of a high quality of education for all students
- Provide exceptional levels of professional support and service to staff and public
- May operate a motor vehicle to conduct various work activities
- Successful completion of Criminal Justice fingerprint/background process and drug screen

- Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, or related field
- 3-5 years of successful professional experience leading the communications efforts of an organization
- Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for the job
- Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to communicate effectively with all employees
- Strong judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills
- Knowledge of various print, web, social media, and digital media tools
- Exceptional interpersonal skills in order to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community members
- Ability to adjust work schedule to meet situational work demands
- Must possess excellent organization and interpersonal skills, and have a high attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple tasks at once and a desire to complete tasks accurately, timely and with emphasis placed on customer service and collaboration
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable
