Salary: $111,190 - $159,000 annually

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Communications

Telecommuting Eligibility: Eligible for up to 40% telecommuting (i.e., up to 2 days per week remote work, following successful completion of onboarding/trial period)

Position Summary

To promote and highlight DPSCD's vision and sustained improvement, the District seeks a new lead marketing professional to plan, develop, implement and monitor the overall District marketing strategy. The Deputy Executive Director (DED) of Marketing works directly with the Assistant Superintendent of Communications, the Superintendent, and senior leadership to develop the District's brand, creative services offerings, social media and marketing strategy. The DED serves as the primary point-of-contact for all marketing and visual representations of the District in the community. The DED manages production and marketing buys (including radio, television and print), and tracks the effectiveness of marketing strategies. The DED will manage a team tasked with delivering a variety of research assignments in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment and oversee the development of various campaigns.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • At least 5 years of senior level experience in a communications/marketing focused role
  • Hands on experience with CRM and SEO tools like Google Analytics, Google Adwords, HubSpot, WebTrends, SalesForce, etc.
  • Prior demonstrated experience data analysis in a marketing context
  • Prior experience leading major change management efforts


Essential Functions
  • Works with Assistant Superintendent of Communications, Superintendent, senior staff, and external advisors to set the District's marketing and creative strategy
  • Executes the District's marketing and creative strategy, including brand management and marketing
  • Manages the District's presence on the internet and social media in alignment with the media & public relations strategy (as set by the Assistant Superintendent of Communications)
  • Liaises with the Assistant Superintendent of Communications to ensure strategic alignment
  • Coordinates with the enrollment team to set message for enrollment marketing
  • Sets strategy for implementation at the school level of aligned, brand-driven marketing materials and social media presence
  • Prepares reports, updates, and other communications deliverables for district leadership on progress against key initiatives and priorities
  • Organizes informational campaigns on key district initiatives
  • Provide hands-on management of marketing team members, including providing regular feedback, coaching and direct support to ensure all team members are operating at a high level and coordinating effectively and cross-functionally
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to deliver technical assistance in a form understood by stakeholders
  • Ensure that all office staff provide responsive, courteous and helpful customer service to the schools, staff and other stakeholders they serve
  • Manage the marketing budget and ensure compliance with District requirements
  • Create and present the annual marketing plan and strategy
  • Use data and reports to make evidence-based decisions
