The contractor will assist in the editing and production of Navy Federal’s online financial education content. The contractor’s primary responsibility will be editing and optimizing online content, creating and circulating proofs of online content for approval, and managing and incorporating feedback from stakeholders. More generally, the contractor will be expected to maintain Navy Federal’s brand standards for usability, relevance, and member engagement; collaborate with Marketing staff and other internal business units and external vendors; and support high-level Marketing strategic initiatives.

Basic Purpose / Description
The contractor will assist in the editing and production of Navy Federal’s online financial education content. The contractor’s primary responsibility will be editing and optimizing online content, creating and circulating proofs of online content for approval, and managing and incorporating feedback from stakeholders. More generally, the contractor will be expected to maintain Navy Federal’s brand standards for usability, relevance, and member engagement; collaborate with Marketing staff and other internal business units and external vendors; and support high-level Marketing strategic initiatives.
Extensive experience in writing or journalism, especially across digital channels, is a must. Aptitude with content manager systems (CMS), search engine optimization (SEO), digital metrics and analytics, and online best practices are not necessarily requirements, but are strongly preferred. Prior experience working, and especially writing, in a regulatory environment (e.g., finance, legal, government) is not required but will be considered a plus. Must be comfortable working with tight deadlines, interacting with multiple stakeholders simultaneously, and with critical reading and writing. Strong organization skills are essential.
Responsibilities
- Author and edit web content using the CMS Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
- Create proofs of web content as PDFs and share with stakeholders for feedback using work management platform Adobe Workfront.
- Rewrite content to incorporate feedback from marketing strategists, internal business partners, compliance, proofreaders, and other stakeholders.
- Ensuring stakeholders meet their deadlines for approval.
- Track and implement revisions across multiple versions of an article.
- Research and analyze the competitive search environment around relevant topics and optimizing content for keywords, context, user experience, and other SEO best practices.
- Maintain an approachable, informative, and empowering tone in our content, aimed at educating (not selling) and aimed at all site visitors (not just our membership).
oRepresenting the Web & Content Strategy team at meetings with business units and other Marketing teams
oPartnering in the creation, maintenance, and execution of our content production calendar
oConducting content audits across channels to support business needs and identify gaps and optimization opportunities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
- Skill influencing and building consensus with business partners
- Basic understanding of HTML and CSS
- Managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
- Experience in content delivery, management, retrieval systems and production for high-traffic websites
- Experience in translating complex concepts, customer needs, motivations and behaviors into easy-to-understand interactive experiences and deliverables
- Experience working in a demanding, fast paced, creative environment (e.g., advertising agency, publication, etc.)
- Knowledge in interactive usability best practices and concepts
- Knowledge of interactive design and information architecture related to content strategy
- Knowledge of SEO strategy as applied to content
- Maintain current knowledge of digital and online technologies, best practices, trends, issues, editing and authoring tools
- Skill navigating multiple screens and PC applications and adapting to new technologies
- Recommended - Experience in using web analytics software (e.g., Google or Adobe Analytics)
- Recommended - Experience in various content management systems (Adobe Experience Manager preferred but not required)
- Recommended - Knowledge of the financial services environment and Navy Federals functions, policies, procedures, products, and services
