PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERN
VisitPITTSBURGH is a tourism development organization dedicated to expanding the tourism economy across Allegheny County. The organization generates a positive economic impact across the tourism verticals of business events, sports, and leisure travel. VisitPITTSBURGH achieves its goals, including ensuring the region has certain economic benefits through the combined efforts of all team members throughout the organization.
The VisitPITTSBURGH Public Relations Intern will gain an understanding of the PR and earned media via the following key tasks:
Essential Functions
Publicity tracking and reporting Industry news monitoring Drafting pitches and press and more. Drafting recaps for the communications team's monthly news digest, case studies, post-mortem campaign reports, etc. Shadowing the PR team during other miscellaneous tasks. daily activities Drafting pitches and press release for proactive campaigns and always-on media relations, such as calls for submission, trend-focused outreach and more. Skills & Specifications
Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive. Strong project/time management, research, and communication skills. Highly interested in gaining insight into data-driven PR and integrated brand strategy. Familiar with digital trends, including within the traditional media landscape, social media, and influencer marketing. Experience with Microsoft Suite and PR tracking tools is a plus. Qualifications
Students who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program from an accredited college or university and are pursuing the following academic majors or minors are preferred: hospitality, tourism, communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, business, digital marketing, economics, or information technology Availability to work 21 hours per week for at least 13 weeks - must be able to commute to the office at least two days per week (ideally Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday) Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
*This is an unpaid internship that provides a weekly stipend of $75.00 for transportation
