Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some required evening and weekend hours for special events and programs.

Description As Marketing and Communications Specialist, you will develop and carry out marketing, outreach, and communication strategies to

promote Parks & Recreation programs, services, and events . In this role, you'll raise community awareness, increase participation, and support consistent branding through digital platforms, print publications, and public engagement efforts. You'll collaborate with staff, city partners, and the community to share the department's story and support its mission to enrich lives every day.

The starting pay for this position is between $24.77 and $30.97 an hour, with opportunities for growth up to $37.16 per hour based on long-term growth and performance within the role. Essential Job Duties

What You'll Do in This Role:

Develop and execute comprehensive marketing campaigns to promote Parks & Recreation initiatives, services, and events. Create and manage content for websites, social media, e-newsletters, advertisements, flyers, brochures, and other marketing materials, coordinating with staff and vendors as needed. Lead production of the bi-annual Parks & Recreation Enrichment Guide, including content planning, coordination with program staff, design layout, editing, and distribution (print and digital). Serve as the department's main point of contact for the City's Public Information Office, coordinating on press releases and feature stories. Ensure the department's website pages are accurate, user-friendly, and consistently maintained. Monitor social media channels and respond to public inquiries. Collect and analyze data on marketing efforts, such as social media engagement, event attendance, and website traffic. Develop outreach strategies for target populations to improve equity in participation and awareness of programs. Provide photography and videography support at department events, programs, and activities for use in promotions. Assist with on-site execution of events and promotional activities, collaborating with staff and community partners. Provide exceptional customer service by assisting administrative staff with phone calls, in-person support, and program registrations. Minimum Qualifications

You Have:

A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field. Two years of experience in marketing, public communications, or content productions.

You Will Succeed in This Role If You:

Bring knowledge of media, graphic design, and marketing principles to create clear and engaging promotional materials. Are proficient with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or Canva. Understand social media strategy and can create, manage, and monitor content across multiple platforms. Can manage publication projects from start to finish, including layout, editing, and distribution, while staying organized and on schedule. Are comfortable using website content management systems (CMS) and email marketing tools to keep digital platforms current and user-friendly. Communicate clearly in both writing and speaking, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with the community. Supplemental Information
