Position Title Library Desk Assistant

Job Summary
Will assist library staff with the daily functions at library desks.
Essential Duties Basic customer service Checking in/out library materials using Sierra computer system Assist patrons in locating library materials Re-shelving library materials using the Library of Congress call number system Handling monetary transactions involving payment of fines, etc. Basic computer/clerical tasks Keeping work area and library areas neat and orderly Assist with disinfecting computer keyboards/mice, study tables and study rooms Stocking paper and changing toner in the library printers Communicate effectively with library patrons Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications
MWSU Student Degree Seeking At least an overall 2.0 GPA Enrolled at least part-time May need to qualify for Federal Work Study Preferred Qualifications
Federal Work Study eligible students are encouraged to apply. Preferred start date: 8/25/2025
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must possess excellent customer service skills Be able to interact and communicate effectively with patrons and library staff Be able to push/pull 50lb cart of books Ability to shelve and retrieve library materials Basic computer/clerical skills and attention to detail is required Be detail-oriented Physical Demands Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Hours of Work
Average 18 hours per week. Must be able to work nights and/or weekends between the hours of 7:30am-8:00pm.
