Wethersfield High School has an immediate opening for a Library Media Assistant. In this role, the Assistant will provide support to the Library Media Specialist in various capacities.

$21.79 - 26.71 per hour Work Days : 203 days (10 months) Work Hours:
7:30 am - 3:00 pm; Monday-Friday (35 hours/week) Application Date:

Duties of the position include the following:
Maintain the library and media collections at the school; Perform clerical functions related to budget and processing materials; Circulate and maintain inventory; Check-in study hall students and input student attendance in PowerSchool; Assist students in the selection of appropriate reading material and support library programs and lessons; Maintain materials inventory and equipment (e.g. library books, library hardware/software, textbooks, audio books, media equipment, computers, printers, magazines, newspapers, and related instructional materials, etc.) for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference, and ensure the availability of materials and equipment when required; Assist in monitoring student activities and computer use for the purpose of maintaining a safe environment conducive to learning; Operate a variety of media equipment, computer equipment and systems (e.g. digital cameras, digital media, computers, printers, LCD Projectors, Smart Boards, laminator, poster machine, CD's, DVDs, etc.) for the purpose of providing library media services.
Qualifications:
Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma; preference may be given to those who have an Associate's degree (or greater) in a related field of study; The ability to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions; The specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment; using pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; shelving books; creating interesting displays; using technology; and keeping accurate records; Library experience and/or a love of books; Knowledge of Google Apps for Education (G-Suite) and Chromebooks; Interest in, knowledge of, and ability to use and learn new technology/applications; Strong writing and communication skills; Outgoing demeanor and dedication to engaging students.
