Position Summary:
The FWS Library Attendant will play a key role in ensuring MIU's vast collection of knowledge and information is well organized and accessible to all patrons. With a focus on reorganization and optimizing our library layout, the attendant will support the smooth operation of our library, fostering an environment of ease, conducive to learning and research.

Gain practical experience in library operations and cataloging techniques. Develop valuable skills in organization, attention to detail, and time management. Learn how to navigate library management systems such as OCLC WorldCat and Inter-library Loan (ILL). Enhance customer service skills by assisting patrons and supporting library staff. Contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our library services and operations. Job Responsibilities:
Organize and shelve library materials with precision and care, ensuring easy access for students and faculty. Identify and locate missing books within the library collections. Assist patrons in locating books, providing friendly and helpful customer service. Support the library front desk as needed, assisting with inquiries and checkouts. Help maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the library space, creating a welcoming environment for all visitors. Collaborate with library staff in revamping the new book section to enhance its appeal and accessibility. Stay up-to-date on library policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
Job Qualifications:
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently with some supervision. Punctual and reliable to follow directions accurately and efficiently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor. Basic computer skills, with the ability to navigate library management systems.

Brandon has been working in MIU's library for almost one year, and enjoys the lively energy of collaborating with colleagues and interacting with visitors. Having graduated in 2020 from the Regenerative Organic Agriculture Program, Brandon reflects fondly on his time as a student at MIU even amidst the challenges that 2020 brought. Since then, Brandon has become a personal trainer and teaches HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) Fitness classes in the MIU Rec Center weight room on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and welcomes conversation in and out of the gym any time you see him.
