Instructional Designer - Trainer
The Instructional Designer-Trainer will perform a variety of tasks to support production and operations by creating, delivering, and improving training programs. This includes developing instructional materials, facilitating training sessions, and ensuring employees understand and follow workplace procedures and standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members to support a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. Who You Are:
Skilled in instructional design, business writing, and facilitation for both in-person and virtual training. Bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Minimum of three years of experience in learning and development, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Proven ability to translate complex manufacturing processes into clear, actionable training programs. Committed to enhancing employee safety, quality, and productivity through effective learning solutions. Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and update training programs and materials, including facilitator guides, e-learning, job aids, qualification checklists, and onboarding curricula. Support on-the-job training (OJT) and "train-the-trainer" programs by equipping SMEs and Level 3 employees with coaching tools and resources. Apply adult learning principles and instructional best practices to ensure content is practical, engaging, and aligned to business needs. Facilitate classroom, shopfloor, and virtual training sessions in both English and Spanish. Deliver workforce development content such as onboarding, safety, 5S, and computer literacy. Adjust facilitation style to meet the needs of diverse audiences, building confidence and engagement through interactive methods and hands-on practice. Conduct needs assessments in partnership with leaders and SMEs to identify training priorities. Evaluate program effectiveness through participant feedback, assessments, and performance metrics. Manage training records, scheduling, and compliance requirements within the Learning Management System (LMS). Recommend continuous improvements to strengthen program impact and alignment with operational goals. Act as a culture ambassador, modeling and reinforcing JTS values of customer focus, continuous improvement, teamwork, and innovation. Provide coaching to SMEs and peers on effective OJT and facilitation practices. Ensure bilingual workforce training is accessible, inclusive, and aligned with employee development needs. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Development, HR, or related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in instructional design and training facilitation. Professional fluency in English and Spanish (verbal and written) required. Strong knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, etc.), and facilitation techniques. Experience designing and facilitating training for a manufacturing environment preferred. Knowledge and experience using e-learning development tools (Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia, or similar). Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt quickly to evolving priorities. Ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment that requires standing on concrete floors for periods of time.
