We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Solar Designer to develop efficient and effective photovoltaic (PV) systems for our clients. The Solar Designer will be responsible for creating comprehensive designs, layouts, and electrical schematics that meet customer needs while adhering to safety regulations and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of solar energy technologies, building codes, and design software. Responsibilities: Collaborate with clients to understand their energy goals and project requirements. Conduct site assessments to determine optimal solar panel placement and system configurations. Develop detailed PV system designs, including panel layouts, electrical wiring diagrams, and structural specifications. Perform shading analysis and energy production forecasts using industry-standard software. Select appropriate equipment, including solar panels, inverters, and mounting structures, to maximize energy production and system reliability. Ensure designs comply with local building codes, utility regulations, and interconnection requirements. Prepare permit applications and other necessary documentation for project approvals. Provide technical support to installation teams and other coworkers. Stay up-to-date with the latest solar technologies, design software, and industry trends. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field) preferred; Associates degree or equivalent experience considered. Proficiency in solar design software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, or similar programs. Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and solar PV system components. Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and permitting processes. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. NABCEP PV Design Specialist certification is a plus.
