Description

The Instructional Designer (ID) works collaboratively with the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (CETLS) and the Associate Director of Technology Services, and supports Springfield College faculty with course development of online and blended courses. The ID assists in the development of digital learning materials, as well as other instructional design functions including quality assurance, pedagogical consultation and learner analysis.

Responsibilities Support CETLS and in collaboration with the Associate Director of Technology Services work with faculty to effectively communicate technical concepts to nontechnical audiences. Work independently or with multiple constituencies. Conduct effective workshops to assist faculty with blended and online course development. Develop video and text based tutorials to assist faculty in using the LMS Provide course quality review (according to principles outlined in Quality Matters) ensuring that online courses are built according to principles that are evidence informed to impact student learning. Collaborate with ITS staff and the Associate Director of Technology Services to support the LMS and related digital learning environments. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required with 1-3 years of directly related experience. Master's degree preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of accessibility standards, ADA guidelines, and D2L Brightspace Learning Management System is strongly preferred. Comfortable working in a web-based conferencing environment (Zoom). Successfully implement principles of Adult Learning, Universal Design for Learning framework, backwards design, ADDIE Model and Logic Model. Ability to effectively work with faculty on the application of active learning principles in the development and design process, such as designing and creating engaging, interactive, and instructionally sound online learning activities. Ability to effectively work with faculty to help provide pedagogical support and instructional design oversight for faculty developing, designing, and creating ADA compliant online instructional content. Researching and identifying innovative and effective online learning techniques, exploring emergent technologies, and assisting in the evaluation, selection, and adoption of technology products related to distance learning Ability to assist in the creating and maintaining of quality assurance and assessment criteria for the evaluation of instruction and online course delivery outcomes. Provide quality course review to ensure alignment with principles that demonstrate continuous improvement. Intermediate level of proficiency with common software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, G-Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, Snagit, Camtasia, Articulate 360 (Storyline), other multimedia software). Ability to handle high volume workload with tight deadlines when needed. QM certification in APPQMR and Peer Review desirable.
