Dorsey & Whitney is seeking a Marketing and Business Development Manager to join our firm. This role will serve as the primary liaison to select practice and industry groups. Working directly with practice and industry group leaders, the MBD Manager leads and executes business development efforts that support the overall business goals of the assigned groups. The MBD Manager takes an active role in learning about the service offerings, lawyers, and clients of the assigned groups and related practices. The role requires the development of strong and effective working relationships within the Marketing Department, as well as with other professional business functions, and lawyers, across the Dorsey platform. Dorsey currently employs a hybrid work environment. In-office presence at least two-three days a week is particularly important for the success of the Business Development Manager. In this role, you will: Lead the marketing and business development efforts of assigned Practice Groups or Industry Groups on a firm-wide basis. Work with lawyers and other Marketing & Business Development team members to create pitches, proposals, and responses to Requests for Proposals and accompanying client presentations for assigned groups and other opportunities. This includes strategizing, writing, and follow through. Assist in managing, updating, and maintaining the content of the Firm's master marketing and business development materials. Create and execute on strategic marketing and business development plans and initiatives for assigned offices. Drive the implementation of these plans and evaluate their ROI. Take a leadership role in the Marketing & Business Development Group in implementing firm-wide marketing plan. Assist lawyers with their individual marketing and business development plans and biographies for assigned groups. Active involvement in the annual marketing and business development budgeting process for assigned offices and groups. Oversee and control related expenditures (manage budget) for assigned offices and groups throughout the year. Plan and organize office marketing events and seminars. Assist during such events and drive follow-up. Prepare and assemble written materials and other collateral material for such events. Collaborate with the Marketing Communications team on external communications, advertisements, and public relations relating to assigned offices and groups. Take a lead role in working with attorneys to coordinate and complete rankings submissions and secure key firm rankings, including Chambers, Best Lawyers, Legal 500 and others. Act as contact with rankings organizations. May perform other work and initiatives as assigned by the Director of Business Development or the Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer. What we're looking for: Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field. At least 6 years of related experience. Excellent writing skills, with high attention to detail; emphasis on accuracy. Professional, independent thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to offer constructive opinions and creative solutions. Strong oral communication skills and ability to interact successfully and collaboratively with others. Excellent consultative and consensus-building skills. Outstanding client service mentality. Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under intense time constraints. Proficiency in social media and other web-based marketing strategies. Ability to travel periodically as needed. Experience with Windows operating system, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.
