Purpose of Position
The CNU College of Social Sciences is accepting applications from prospective adjunct faculty members to teach individual courses, as needed, in the following areas in Fall 2025 or Spring 2026 and beyond:
Communication
- Public Speaking
- Argumentation
- Media Studies
Along with demonstrated ability for excellent teaching, candidates must hold an earned graduate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in a relevant discipline, with 18 completed semester hours of graduate coursework in communication or a closely related field. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire. Candidates for hire are required to complete a CNU sponsored background check.
Departmental Information
The Department of Communication at Christopher Newport University is composed of 13 full-time faculty. The Department offers a Bachelor of Arts program, as well as a minor in Communication. A position in this growing, collaborative department has a great deal to offer a teacher scholar committed to a life of the mind and excellence in teaching. Our chapter of LPH is vibrant—regularly hosting philanthropic events and scholarly forums. Research and teaching for the department are interdisciplinary, emphasizing the production and reproduction of systems of meaning, knowledge, culture, and behavior.
