Job Description
We are seeking a teacher focused on literacy to enhance students' creative opportunities. The library/creative expression teacher will:
- Adhere to school policies regarding behavior expectations, including rewards and consequences.
- Plan lessons utilizing books, our library, and exploration aligned with students' learning objectives.
- Prepare the classroom by gathering and setting up equipment, and assist with checking out and returning books.
- Develop students' passion for literature.
- Teach students about the library.
- Assign and grade projects and work.
- Record and report students' progress.
- Monitor the library weekly for grades K-5.
- Attend school functions and collaborative meetings as requested.
- Plan and present displays and exhibitions to showcase students' work for the school and community.
- Develop instructional plans and organize class time for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and practice.
- Supervise lessons to ensure respectful and supportive interactions, reflecting our PRIDE values.
- Follow all professional norms.
- Do whatever it takes to fulfill the mission of Aurora Collegiate Academy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
- A state-issued teaching license, or in the process of obtaining one. Not required but encouraged.
- Willingness to fulfill all duties and responsibilities fully.
- A belief that all students can succeed in college and a desire to lead students toward that goal.
