Job Summary
The successful candidates will primarily work either Sunday (2-6PM), Tuesday (6-10PM), and Thursday (6-10PM) or Sunday (2-6PM), Monday (6-10PM), and Wednesday (6-10PM) while classes are in session each semester.Each part-time librarian will average 12 hours per week but no more than 19.5 hours. The schedule may change based on the needs of the department; therefore, flexibility is preferred.This is strictly a part-time reference faculty librarian position.
Responsibilities- Maintain information desk during scheduled peak times of need to serve primarily, students, faculty, and staff with information retrieval.
- Assists with research questions, circulation of library technology items, basic computer assistance, monitoring study rooms for policy compliance, copier/print services, and general directional questions relating to the university.
- General supervision and basic training of student assistant employees when applicable, who may be working during the same shift as the part-time librarian.
- Collection development activities under the direction of liaison librarians.
- Familiarity with Springshare modules including LibGuides, LibChat, and LibCal. Includes updating and working with LibGuide information as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Master of Library Science (MLS, MIS, or MLIS) or equivalent degree from an ALA accredited university or international equivalent.
- Exhibit strong broad-based knowledge of print and electronic information sources.
- Familiarity with Springshare products (e.g., LibCal, LibGuides, LibChat)
- Familiarity with a library management system (e.g. Alma, Folio, etc.)
- Experience with troubleshooting basic computer or printing issues
- Demonstrate strong service ethics including the ability to effectively work with faculty, staff, students and library personnel at all levels.
- Ability to lift at least 10 pounds.
- Must be self-directed, well organized, able to set priorities, and accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
