Position Summary

Simpson College is seeking qualified and passionate educators for part-time Adjunct Faculty positions in Applied Music. We are currently hiring specialists in Saxophone, Jazz Bass, and Percussion to provide individualized and/or group instruction to music majors and non-majors. These positions are ideal for professional musicians and educators who are committed to student success and artistic excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide applied instruction in one or more of the following areas: Saxophone, Jazz Bass, or Percussion.
  • Prepare and deliver course materials, including syllabi and lesson plans.
  • Evaluate student progress through performances, assignments, and assessments.
  • Offer constructive feedback and mentorship to students.
  • Participate in departmental juries, and recitals.
  • Maintain professional standards in teaching and musicianship.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Music or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the listed instruments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.

Preferred Qualifications

  • College-level teaching experience.
  • Active performance career or professional experience in jazz and/or classical settings.
  • Familiarity with digital tools for music instruction.
