Position Title: Sr. Product Designer – UX / Design Systems
Location: Offices in Baltimore MD, Wilmington DE, Charlotte NC, New York NY, or Irving TX)
Duration: 10-month contract
Employment Type: Contract role on W-2 through Above and Beyond Talent Acquisition, Inc. (A&B Talent)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Pay Rate: $90.00 - $96.00

Who we are looking for / Requirements:

  • 5+ years of UX/Product Design experience, including 2–3 years in design systems
  • Proven experience scaling and governing a multi-platform design system
  • Expertise in Figma (component libraries, variants, auto layout, tokens, etc.) and related tools (Storybook, Zeroheight, Miro)
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating systems work, pattern libraries, guidelines, and collaboration
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS and translating design to code
  • Ability to self-manage, prioritize, and communicate across distributed teams
  • Experience collaborating with Product, Engineering, Accessibility, Brand, and Design teams to define standards, components, interaction patterns, and usage guidelines
  • Experience building and maintaining documentation, design kits in Figma, and internal training to support adoption
  • Experience mentoring teams in applying design systems effectively while evolving them based on feedback
  • Ability to drive governance processes for system quality, workflows, and component lifecycle management
  • Ability to stay current with industry best practices in design systems, tooling, accessibility, and UI/UX design

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in financial services, fintech, or other highly regulated industries
  • Knowledge of design tokens, theming, and accessibility-first component design
  • Familiarity with content design, localization strategies, and internationalization
  • Background in service design or information architecture

Performance Objectives / What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the strategy, structure, and evolution of the design system across web and mobile platforms
  • Build scalable components and patterns while ensuring accessibility, consistency, and high-quality experiences
  • Deliver documentation, tooling, and training to support adoption and contribution across teams
  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, product managers, and brand teams to ensure system alignment
  • Mentor team members, uphold design quality, and foster shared ownership of the design system
  • Participate in design critiques and working sessions to promote a culture of craft, feedback, and continuous improvement
