Overview
Product Concept Designer - Defense
role at
Palantir Technologies .
A World-Changing Company
Palantir builds the world’s leading software for data-driven decisions and operations. By bringing the right data to the people who need it, our platforms empower our partners to develop lifesaving drugs, forecast supply chain disruptions, locate missing children, and more.
The Role We’re looking for a multidisciplinary Concept Designer to join our Product Design team and be the visual storyteller for our latest defense product concepts. You will be responsible for rapidly producing mockups, imagery, short videos, and interactive prototypes that bring ideas, both nascent and developed, to life. This role sits at the nexus of product development, product marketing, and business development. Your output will be critical for sharing concepts with audiences internal and external to Palantir.
The mandate is broad: you will create everything from user interface UI mockups for a customer meeting, to diagrams that explain our technology, to videos that debut a new product at a conference. Ideal candidates are master visual designers with UI/UX intuition and experience. You thrive on distilling complex concepts into straightforward, crisp stories.
A note about the distinction between Communications, Product, and Concept Design roles at Palantir:
Communications Designers uphold Palantir's brand standards and serve as visual storytellers for branding, marketing, presentations, and events.
Product Designers define, design, and assist in building new user interfaces across Gotham, Foundry, Apollo, and AIP, collaborating with Forward Deployed Engineers to gain user context.
Concept Designers imagine what new offerings could look like, whether additions to core platforms or tailored solutions for potential customers.
Core Responsibilities
Make conceptual narratives with quick turnaround. Often responsible for taking software requirements and delivering a high‑level UI concept.
Bring to life the product vision with clear creative direction and assets across multiple channels and mediums, including UI mockups, digital illustrations, diagrams, architecture visuals, 2D/3D animations, and short videos or sizzle reels.
Contribute to development of product launch (GTM) materials.
Contribute to development of visualization techniques and styles.
Collaborate with business, engineering, product marketing, and product divisions.
What We Value
Generalist skillset with a strong design background in graphic design and UI/UX; typography, layout, illustration, and motion design are important.
Excellent communication skills; ability to build relationships, explain design rationale, and iterate quickly with stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and alignment with brand standards.
What We Require
A multimedia portfolio showing at least one software interface design project. If parts of your portfolio are password-protected, include the password under Additional Information when applying.
Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite and comfort with switching mediums and learning new programs.
Experience using Figma.
Experience with video editing.
Eligibility and willingness to obtain a US Security clearance or active US Security clearance.
Ideal candidates have 2+ years of experience.
Ideal candidates have some experience in 3D modeling and 2D/3D animation.
