Salary: $70 $80 Hourly DOE

Are you a skilled communicator who can turn complex ideas into clear, engaging content? Were looking for a Technical Writer to create and maintain user-friendly documentation that supports our projects and technical processes. In this role, youll collaborate with subject matter experts, engineers, and project teams to translate technical concepts into accessible materials such as manuals, guides, reports, and procedures. Your work will ensure that critical information is accurate, understandable, and easy to use for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, write, and edit technical documentation, including instruction manuals, how-to guides, standard operating procedures, specifications, and reports.
  • Collaborate with SMEs, engineers, and project staff to gather and clarify technical information.
  • Organize and present information logically and effectively for the intended audience.
  • Ensure documentation complies with applicable standards, templates, and style guides.
  • Revise, update, and maintain existing documentation as processes or systems change.
  • Proofread, edit, and fact-check technical content for accuracy, consistency, and clarity.
  • Support knowledge transfer by preparing training materials and user-friendly reference documents.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Competencies

  • Ability to create clear, concise, and accurate documentation, including manuals, guides, reports, and other deliverables.
  • Skilled at gathering, evaluating, and synthesizing technical information from subject matter experts (SMEs), engineering staff, or other stakeholders.
  • Strong command of grammar, style, and formatting standards to ensure quality and consistency across documents.
  • Proficiency in applying templates, style guides, and formatting conventions.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technical authoring tools such as MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, and specialized documentation software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ability to identify inconsistencies, errors, and ambiguities in documents and resolve them proactively.
  • Skilled at balancing multiple projects with competing deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to quickly learn and document new technical concepts, systems, and processes.
  • Skilled at tailoring content for different audiences, ranging from technical staff to general end-users.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in English, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience in technical writing or a closely related role.
  • Proven experience creating instruction manuals, how-to guides, journal articles, or other technical documents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in engineering, transportation, IT, or similar technical fields.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard documentation tools.
  • Knowledge of plain language standards and style guide compliance.

Compensation
$70 $80 hourly, depending on experience, ability, and capability.
