Our client, a leading provider of consumer credit services, has a 6+ month renewable contract opportunity for a Fraud Rules Writer. This role is remote and focuses on building data sets to support the development of new strategies and the creation of data features needed to execute real-time detection rules.

Note: This role is on a W2 basis. For W2 consultants, the benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision benefits, a 401(k) with company matching, and life insurance.

Rate: $40 - $50 / hr. W2

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and deploy fraud detection rules, leveraging ML models and data within the fraud rules engine.
  • Author and maintain code to support rule execution, data ingestion, and decisioning logic.
  • Integrate the fraud detection system with various data sources, including internal databases, third-party APIs (e.g., identity verification services), and real-time event streams.
  • Manage and optimize performance of the fraud detection system to ensure low latency for real-time transaction processing.
  • Design and maintain data pipelines that furnish required data to the fraud engine.
  • Collaborate with fraud analysts and policy leads to ensure data schemas and features are correctly formatted and available for use in fraud models and rules.
  • Utilize data streaming processing frameworks (e.g., Kafka) to convert streaming events into features for real-time decisions by the rules engine.

Experience Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with Git and GitHub pull requests.
  • 1-2 years of Java experience.
  • Advanced SQL capabilities with at least 2 years of experience.
  • General understanding of data streaming workflows and architectures.
  • Experience with Drools is a plus.
  • Familiar with the following technologies:
  • Scala – the streaming codebase is built in Scala
  • Kafka topics – used for data streaming
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) – specifically Pub/Sub topics and subscriptions
  • Apache Thrift – essential for understanding data serialization, as objects transmitted over Kafka/Pubsub topics are defined using Thrift schemas

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, cybersecurity, computer information systems, or related field
