Job Summary
Job Title: Student Graduate Tutor
Location: Modesto A. Maidique Campus
The Center for Excellence in Writing is currently seeking a Student Graduate Tutor to join their team of professionals. Duties to include:
- Assist FIU graduate students with their writing assignments (e.g., thesis; dissertations; articles for publication)
- Assist in leading graduate-level writing workshops (e.g., Literature Review; Avoiding Plagiarism; Personal Statement; Grammar Workshop)
- Serve as a mentor to staff of undergraduate tutors
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of at least a master's degree, as well as experience with writing/tutoring.
- Requires a letter of recommendation from one prior supervisor.
- Ability to work in a team setting.
- Ability to take directionm colloborate, and work independently as needed.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.
- Knowledge of PC operations and specialized software programs, such as PantherSoft and Salesforce.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally, and in writing.
- Possess a high sense of responsibility and customer service skills.
- Ability to solve problems independently.
- Organizational and time-management skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with with writing center theory and practice.

Student Disclosure
- Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
- During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
- Upon graduating, student employment must end.
Work Schedule
- Monday - Friday
- 5 hours per day
- 20 hours a week
Advertised Salary
$20.00 per hour

- Special trust, responsibility, and sensitive location.
- Working in centers of health and/or counseling care.
