Job Summary
The Center for Excellence in Writing is currently seeking Student Writing Assistants to join their team of professionals. Duties to include:
- Assisting with writing-intensive courses to facilitate active learning in the classroom within small groups of students.
- Writing Assistants are assigned to 10-12 students per semester, guide group discussion among those students during class time, and host weekly office hours to provide students with thoughtful and effective feedback on their written drafts of assignments.
- Writing Assistants also serve as mentors to students and bridge the gap between faculty and students.
Minimum Qualifications
- To be considered and interviewed for the position, you must be recommended by an instructor and submit an academic writing sample. Once you are accepted into the program, you will be notified that you are a finalist and will receive an official job offer letter.
- Requires prior completion of FIU Service Excellence training or completion within first 30 days.
- Ability to work in a team setting.
- Intermediate level of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of PC operations and specialized software.
- Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive information.

Student Disclosure
- Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
- During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
- Upon graduating, student employment must end.

- Monday - Friday
- 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- 7.5 hours per week
