Communications Director

is a position that seeks a dynamic and enthusiastic team member to join us in saving lives. Our mission is to save lives through organ and tissue donation, and we want professionals who will embrace this important work. This role will manage all aspects of marketing and media relationships to grow the donor registry and promote the need for registered donors. Previous marketing and media experience in the healthcare field is preferred. Travel will be required to all DCI Donor Services locations.
Responsibilities
Branding / Communications: Manages and directs internal and external communications. Creates communication strategies to increase the visibility of the mission on a national and regional level. Develops and maintains a comprehensive communications plan, with attention to maintaining a consistent brand voice across all platforms. Provides infrastructure within local areas for unified communications and branding messaging. Leverages communications resources to optimize effectiveness and decrease duplication of effort. May conduct market or public opinion research to assess program outcomes. Suggests promotional donation ideas in various types of media, as well as provides counsel to top management on effective communication strategies. Works with company staff to set communications goals, conducts training in communications skills, and tracks and reports on successes.
Media: Communicates brand messages to a multifaceted audience, including national and local communities, through public education initiatives, thought leadership opportunities and media relations strategies. Develops with appropriate team members ways to present the brand message across different platforms and through media outlets. Works with regional staff to develop and hone messages for all audiences. Manages outreach to broadcast, print and digital media outlets on positive donation and transplantation issues and stories. Develops and maintains relationships with top tier national and regional reporters and editors, increases placement in national, regional and local media outlets. Serves as the key spokesperson as the DCIDS CEO designates. Creates and maintains comprehensive systems for tracking and reporting media placements and contacts. Integrates online strategies into overall communications strategy. Develops and maintains Media Crisis Communications Plan for the company and leads all locations in developing local plans.
Partnerships: Maintains strong relationships with communications staff of allied organizations (hospitals, Donate Life America, AOPO, EBAA, etc.). Facilitates corporate and community partnerships for brand awareness and to amplify the mission and work of the company.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; Master’s degree preferred.
Seven (7) years in a marketing or public relations role.
Valid driver’s license with ability to pass MVR underwriting requirements.
