Overview
Robinson+Cole, a Vault Top Ranked Am Law 200 firm, seeks an energy attorney with at least four years of experience to join the Environmental, Energy + Telecommunications Practice Group in an East Coast office.
Our Environmental, Energy + Telecommunications team is one of the largest and most diverse in the Northeast. We provide targeted and practical advisory services on EH+S and utility matters across pathways such as electricity, gas, steam, water and telecom.
Responsibilities
Advise clients on state and federal energy and utility statutes and regulations and on state utility regulatory requirements applicable to wholesale and retail energy markets
Support regulatory, transactional and litigation matters related to energy and utilities
Appear before state public utility commissions; assist with siting and permit approvals for energy projects; provide compliance counseling to energy companies; negotiate purchase and sale of energy generating facilities
Contribute to drafting and negotiation of reports, agreements, permit requests and other project documents
Take on significant responsibility and ownership within the practice
Qualifications
Experience with state and federal energy and utility statutes and regulations; state utility regulatory requirements for wholesale and retail energy markets; and related regulatory, transactional and litigation matters
Preferred: experience appearing before state public utility commissions, siting and permitting energy projects, compliance counseling, and negotiating energy deals
Experience with interconnection agreements, long term power purchase agreements, administrative appeals, and consumer protection regulation is a plus
Strong attention to detail and ability to prepare thorough reports, agreements, permit requests and related documents

Admitted to practice in the state of the attorney's primary office location
Salary and location New York and DC Applicants: base salary range is 195,000 to 210,000. Actual base salary will be determined by class year, years of experience, skills, qualifications and office location
