DeGroot Fine Art (DFA), established in 2016, is a comprehensive art services firm. Based in Chicago, our art consultants work nationwide with corporate and private clients to manage art collections and provide creative collaborations that enrich the workspace, home, and local art community. About the Team

About the Role
As a Project Associate, you will work closely with the Project Manager and broader team, playing a key role in the curation, coordination, and execution of fine art projects for corporate and private clients. This position requires you to be detail-oriented, proactive, and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently. Success in this role requires seamless collaboration with team members to ensure smooth project execution from start to finish, including both major and minor tasks. Given the unique and dynamic nature of each project, your adaptability and flexibility will be essential as priorities shift to meet client needs, deadlines, and evolving project objectives. This role is a stepping stone to becoming a Project Manager, offering rapid growth opportunities for qualified candidates.
Compensation
$22-$24/hour with the potential to convert to perm/FT after 6 months.
Incredible travel experiences to major destinations in the continental United States. All eligible travel expenses in the performance of work are provided for by DeGroot Fine Art.
Key Job Responsibilities
Art Research & Curation
Research fine artwork and posters
Coordinate with galleries and vendors for artwork acquisition and invoicing
Assist with writing and proofreading artist bios, artwork labels, and other related materials
Client & Project Support
Assist with building client presentations
Design floor plans and render artwork in Photoshop
Assist with framing and display design
Manage and track artwork inventory and logistics, ensuring project deadlines are met
Oversee travel booking and expense tracking
Manage client visit preparation, ensuring all required materials are packed
Assist with on-site art installations (art handler support, cleaning, photo and record documentation, etc.)
Assist with general miscellaneous tasks and errands as needed
Marketing & Industry Engagement
Build and nurture relationships within the art world by attending openings, gallery visits, and art fairs
Photograph projects, artwork, and events for documentation, social media, and marketing purposes
Collaborate on broader company marketing efforts, including website and event planning
Coordinate special projects with outside vendors
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
Ability to see the big picture while paying attention to details
Ability to anticipate needs and solve problems
Ability to work independently while recognizing when to seek guidance
Comfortable using Google Suite (Google Calendar, Docs, Sheets)
Basic knowledge of Photoshop for image editing and documentation (preferred but not required)
Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in all interactions
Flexible and able to pivot quickly in an ever-changing environment
Open to handling a variety of tasks across different functions as needed
Willingness to jump in when and where needed
Strong sense of collaboration in achieving project goals
Positive attitude with a team-player mentality
Enjoys networking and building relationships
Role Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Art History, Fine Arts, Arts Administration, Museum Studies, Design, or a related field (preferred but not required)
2-5 years of experience as an associate or project manager at a gallery, museum, auction house (internships included)
Understanding of contemporary and fine art, artists, and market trends
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift artwork (up to 30 pounds), and assist with installations
This role requires occasional travel and work outside of business hours
