Event Technician, Audio Visual - The Inn on Biltmore Estate

Overview

A Technician is responsible for the setup and operation of basic/small-scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director or Director, Event Technology. Location: The Inn on Biltmore Estate.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Operation: Ensure a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment as listed in the technical qualifications section.
  • Customer Service: Strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers; maintain positive relationships with clients through effective communication; meet with guests on site to ensure needs are met and equipment is functioning properly; monitor events and check in on customers throughout the day; foster the hotel/client relationship.
  • Technical Ability: Understand the technical aspects of the job and demonstrate basic operational ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment and software issues; handle equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
  • Systems Knowledge: Understand company processes, follow procedures, complete systems entry and paperwork accurately; use equipment sheets to determine equipment scheduled for setup and strike; interact with other staff and outside vendors; utilize floor up-selling techniques to increase revenue; work with clients to finalize invoices; complete order entries in Navigator as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required. Associate’s degree preferred.

  • 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience is preferred.
  • 1 year of audio-visual experience or equivalent in an educational environment is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for team members that may operate Company vehicles.
  • Additional DOT requirements may be required if applicable.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment

Hotel/convention center environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand and/or dust. Working conditions range from moderately quiet to noisy. Team members will use high-end audio-visual equipment and electrical components and may be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. May work in multiple hotel locations. Working hours will include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Appearance guidelines apply as defined by Encore or the represented property.

Compensation

Hourly Pay Range: $13.58 - $16.64. The compensation for this role is determined based on qualifications, location, travel, and relevant work experience. Final compensation may include overtime, bonuses or incentives where applicable.
