General Summary
The Part-Time Library-Makerspace Lab Support position performs responsible clerical work in the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library Central Library’s Computer Lab, under the general supervision of the Supervisory Technology Services Librarian.

The preferred starting salary is 15.75 an hour. This is a part-time, non-exempt position working up to 25 hours per week, and is eligible for prorated benefits. Essential Responsibilities And Duties
- Mans the makerspace and digital media lab; assists patrons on library computers, printers, and makerspace lab equipment.
- Monitors behavior of patrons and takes appropriate action.
- Informs patrons of library policies and procedures.
- Answers questions from lab patrons and telephone inquiries.
- May be asked to assist at other library service desks.
- Troubleshoots minor problems with hardware and software.
- Reports facility and equipment maintenance and repair needs.
- Responsible for appropriate use and maintenance of JMRL equipment, tools, and other resources, including work time.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
Other Duties
- Performs additional duties to support operational requirements as apparent or assigned.
Education, Experience And Skills
Education and Experience: Candidates may qualify by demonstrating the required knowledge and skills outlined for the job through experience(s) other than formal education.
- High School diploma or GED and 3 months of experience working with the public in a customer service environment, and experience working with relevant hardware and software.
- 2 years of experience working with the public in a customer service environment, and experience working with relevant hardware and software.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above.
Certifications/Licenses/Other Requirements
- Required to successfully pass a pre-employment background check

- Knowledge of and proficiency in use of various computer platforms and software, internet, and basic search skills.
- Knowledge of Internet and use of basic searching skills.
- Knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting with in-house devices.
- Knowledge of library policies and procedures.

- Intermediate: Ability to read and understand written materials such as newspapers, magazines, journals, multi-step instruction manuals, and reference materials.
Writing
- Basic: Ability to write simple letters, paragraphs and sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses.
Math
- No skills are required.

Physical Demands

Work Environment
- Work is performed in office environment where there may be exposure to computer screen for extended periods of time, monitor glare and dust. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
