The Role
As a Construction Technical Writer, you will craft compelling proposal narratives, project approaches, and logistics plans that effectively communicate Willmeng's strategies and expertise. You will interview project teams and translate complex construction concepts into clear, engaging language for non-technical audiences. You'll also write, review, and contribute to storytelling initiatives and project write-ups that reflect Willmeng's brand, values, and pursuit strategies.
What you will accomplish
Proposal and Content Development
- Collaborate with the Marketing Team to integrate technical content into RFQ, RFP, and award submissions.
- Conduct interviews with project teams to uncover project challenges, solutions, and key differentiators.
- Write and edit project approaches and logistics plans that highlight winning strategies and client benefits.
- Translate technical construction content into client-focused narratives and maintain boilerplate materials for proposals, marketing, and recruiting.
Editing and Quality Control
- Maintain alignment with Willmeng’s brand voice and proposal standards.
- Edit and format content developed by others for clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
- Apply style guidelines (AP and internal) across all written deliverables.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Work closely with leadership, marketing, and pursuit teams to maintain accuracy and strategic alignment.
- Clear understanding and use of external (AP) and internal (Willmeng Style Guide) across all written deliverables.
- Incorporate feedback from subject matter experts in a diplomatic and collaborative manner.
- Manage multiple writing projects under tight deadlines, maintaining version control and quality.
What we would like you to have
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of technical writing experience in the construction, architecture, or engineering industry.
- Strong interviewing and research skills to extract detailed, story-worthy project information.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to simplify technical information.
- Experience integrating winning strategies into proposal content.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Adobe lnDesign preferred.
